Kaya is actually short for Kayak. She is named for her place of birth and has never set foot on dry land. Popular speculation is that should she ever do so, she would suffer greviously from 'landsickness'.
Kaya's family moved into a canoe when she was seven, but as she grew she became convinced that rowing was a thing of the past. She stowed away on a steamboat at the age of nine and over the next four years worked towards the mutany that would see her made captain. In 2007 when the tourism business got slow due to environmental concerns about steam power, Kaya turned to piracy and has never looked back.
She can be found sailing the River Mersey to rob unsuspecting ferries of tea and cakes, and is notorious for her penchant for disguise. This trait earned her the name Kayak Manybeards.

"Hello, I'm Bec. I like apple and blackcurrant more than vimto and I want to be a transformer plant."
(I don't want to be an insectivore. The Vimto thing is true.)
