Post By: Bec, at long last!
Listening To: Roll To Me- Del Amitri
Thinking about: Identity.
I've had an eventful few days.
I'll tell all, eventually.
But I mean, why post about making curry ice cream in Pagey's now, when I could do it later... with pictures?!
Had a really fun night, which I'll tell you about when I post the pictures- it seems logical to talk about the whole day then.
In other news, I've lost my voice. It started on Thursday. Was sat in Pagey's and as the night went on my voice went worse and worse. I was out with friends last night, so it was even worse this morning. :P
I spent most of the night in the Kray with Kieran and Kaya's Andy and people, so my neck is killing me. (I usually avoid any activity that resembles dancing in any way, but I had a few drinks and there's really not much else to do and they played a few good songs and one thing led to another and a considerable amount of headbanging went on.)
So I rolled in around 4am. Set an alarm for nine, so I'd be awake in time to get ready to babysit my little cousin. Was surprisingly unhungover. Gramps brought Meg round at eleven, and the party started. :P
I had the good fortune to watch only half of Alvin and the Chipmunks before we made lunch.
We had tomato soup, but one thing led to another and we made Megan's soup into Messy Soup. Our thinking was that since you dip bread in soup, couldn't you save time by ripping all the bread up and putting it into your soup? You'd probably absorb more soup, too. Surely this was the future of soup-eating?
The results were... unspeakable. And as the name implies, messy. I can save your time and tastebuds by telling you that it's not a good idea.
Later, we melted Wispas onto coasters by leaving them on the radiator. I'm not sure why coasters, except that we both agreed there should probably be something between the chocolate and the radiator. They look a bit like chocolate digestives now, but it was worth it.
Megan's five; she'll be six on monday.
We were playing on EyeToy: Play, and she kind of overheated herself jumping around on the window-cleaning game. (it largely involves flailing your arms around for two minutes)
After she finished her tenth or so turn on this, she wandered out the living room, into the bathroom, then came back with some damp tissue. I asked her what it was for, and she just shrugged, patted her face with it and said "Damp paper towels are essential when you're too hot."
Well, that told me.
She's discovered the art of sarcasm, as well. We had a running joke going of saying "very good, very good!" in a weird accent. And she started doing it when stuff went wrong or I messed up or tried to speak and just ended up wheezing at her. I would have laughed, but I was too busy treasuring the ray of hope this offered me. No one in our family appreciates sarcasm except my auntie Lisa, who moved to London years ago, so I don't see much of her. Her parents will probably crush it out of her, and mislabel it "giving cheek", but in the mean time I am thrilled.
Megan is very much a tomboy. Even more so than I was at that age... I'm not supposed to tell anyone, but she calls herself Max when she's with her friends. It's odd. Jack, another cousin of similar age is surprisingly camp and obsessed with my little pony. He's the sort of kid who might pester his parents for a fluffly bunny rabbit. If he weren't terrified of bunny rabbits. Megan apparently already has a stage name. I like to joke that somehow they were born the wrong way around.
Megan's kind of taking it a bit far, like. She walked into a table and shouted "Ow, I just banged me nuts!" Which put me in a terrible situation. I wanted to curl into the foetal position and die of laughter, but this would probably mean having to explain what was funny. Explaining to her that she doesn't have nuts, when from her pointing it seems that she thinks her nuts are her navel? Yeah... not it. That's a job for her parents.
Apparently I'm her favourite cousin. She's got quite a few as well, so I'm kind of chuffed. I think it's possibly, if not probably, because her actual age is very close to my mental age. She gave me a big hug and was like "Rebeckah's my best friend." My thoughts flicked from Kaya, to an image of Meg looking disappointed and back again for a few seconds. Oh, the dilemma. After a pause I was just like "Yeah. I think Megan's my best friend too..." (sorry, Kaya!)
She'd obviously been thinking along similar lines, because she then added "Only out of my cousins, of course."
Deep sigh of relief. Kaya can now stop plotting swift vengeance against people a third of her age, and the natural order is restored.
I'm relieved that I haven't started lying to her about the really important stuff yet.
Except maybe that her navel isn't proof of her masculinity. Hopefully she'll work that one out before she hits puberty.

Thinking about: How long it has been since this blog was last updated.
Initially I was waiting for Bec to post, so that we could take it in turns, but if I do that it may take some time, so I figured I'd just keep posting and see what happens! Read on ~!
My super secret evil plan (that isn't that secret or evil) has been completed! and this is the result:
Yes. You see it. My very own cranial shrub! This is my brain child. Created with :
- 1 skull
- Cress seeds
- Water.
A rather simple brain child, with cress for brains.
I even made it into a .gif, so you can see it in all it's glory :)

And on another matter, you may have noticed above I am drinking "rum tea". I am fond of my tea, and decided to experiment a little. By adding rum to it! Now I have concluded that - it is very nice.
(Don't be silly, there is no milk in here! milk and rum, I do not fancy that. P.S. Bec, lets have some rum tea soon)
For the rum tea, I found a few recipes, most of which involved a lot of boiling and adding of things like lemon zest and cinnamon, however, I decided to follow the simplest recipe, because I am lazy. It involved making a cup of traditional English tea, adding a shot (or 1 measure or 25ml) of rum, and adding sugar to taste. (however, I think my measurements were a bit off... ;] )
I think this would be one of those drinks that would warm you up when you have come back from traversing the great snowy wilderness. Tired and cold and hungry. So you sit, and have a nice warm rum tea. and then you pig out on some broth or something. Mmmm broth. And bread and butter.
over and out.
